Hi there - I am Brigitte and I wanted to create a space where I could track my experience and journey with horses. I have always loved horses - love their smell, their beauty - everything about them as a little girl and started riding when I was 3. I became a true student of the horse, ie "natural" horsemanship, which is the closest word in the english language to using what makes sense to a prey animal, 4 years ago and the journey has been life changing.
My goal is to be able to learn more about the nature of the horse without my human filter, to achieve true partnership with horses and to discover many ways to have fun with horses - including my favorites activities - Liberty and Agility. My goal is to grow to be the best me I can for my horses and my life.
Enjoy!
Horses are nature at its finest and ultimate metaphor for life.
1. Horsemanship is natural 2. Make & Teach no assumptions 3. Communication is two or more individuals sharing in & undserstanding an idea 4. Horses & Humans have responsibilities 5. The Attitude of justice is effective 6. Body Language is universal 7. Horses teach riders & Riders teach horses 8. Principles, purpose & time are the tools of teaching
Having fun playing a game of respect at treat time. I draw an imaginary square around each horses feet and each horse has to stay within their square - no leaking forward. If they do, they get sent back. Also, no dominance allowed between horses - no biting or kicking in my presence. If that happens, they get sent away. Watch my LBE Sparkle - the horse in the middle - he loves this game and gets it - rarely does he foul out by leaking forwarding or moving much at all. This is fun to manage the herd dynamics as well as teach them to read my body language and have respect. My 11 year old was taping and talking to me at the same time so I had to manage that as well :)
